Destin East Pass Tide Chart

The best water quality is at high tide (incoming tide). That is when the beautiful emerald green water is available that makes the Destin East Pass and Crab Island a beautiful place to boat or swim.

Destin East Pass, Station ID 8729511

Whether you're fishing or spending the day at Crab Island, be sure to check our local tides before you head out for a fun filled day. Knowing the tide can be crucial to the safety of everyone in your group, especially if you do not know our boating areas and tides.

Quality of Water - Crab Island - Choctawhatchee Bay

  • Before and during high tide is the best water quality. This is when you will see the beautiful green / turquoise water that is flowing in from the Gulf.
  • Before and during low tide is when the water is flowing to the Gulf. The water is darker and more than likely you will see grass floating in the water.
  • During the height of low tide is when you will experience the most pull in the water. If you get swept away in a tide change (rip tide), stay calm and do not try to swim upstream. Keep your head above water and take slow deep breaths. Visit NOAA Ocean Today | Rip Current Survival Guide for additional information.
